Purposeful Patriots

 Purposeful Patriots is a nonprofit organization that will be dedicated to assisting injured veterans. Focusing on those at risk for depression and suicide to renew a sense of purpose, Independence, and stability in their lives. Through training in CAD software and small equipment such as a 3D printer, an independent operator can develop products as a hobby or for a living.

Most of us have heard the statistics, veteran suicide rates are at an all-time high with disabled veterans having a three times higher risk of suicide then their counterparts. Through providing the veteran the needed tools and teaching the skills to create virtually any product through Cad and at-home manufacturing equipment we aim to decrease veteran suicide and depression.

With these skills, the individual develops purpose, independence, and stability while becoming more marketable for gainful employment in the engineering or manufacturing field as well as being able to create and sell products from home.

A lack of purpose, independence, and stability is a leading cause of veteran suicide. Through developing and using these skills and others like this the risk of suicide and depression is greatly reduced and replaced with a sense of purpose and ability.

Through learning engineering and manufacturing skills, veterans are able to create independence and stability through gainful employment if that is their goal.

The CAD system designed will have a PC with two monitors. One monitor will be the workspace and the other will have the instructors screen with video communication. The instructor will also have the same setup and there will be a built-in network for IO’s to communicate, collaborate, and inspire. The products will be promoted on our website and social media.

CAD (Computer Aided Design) has been a prime driver in product innovation. The ease of use and computer driven computation has made complex mechanical designs far easier than they have been in the recent past.

Some of our veterans find it difficult to leave home due to disfigurement or PTSD. The horrors of combat can introduce a level of reality most of us will fortunately never know. From my conversations with Sara Tremaine (Purposeful Patriots founder), these soldiers won't ask for help and if they do, it's when they have nothing left.

Skills in CAD will open doors that I can only begin to explain. CAD offers endless building space and requires very little movement for those with very limited mobility. There is a growing market for CAD models in industries such as Jewelry, automotive, prototyping, medical, energy, and a very large hobby market. We will train in CAD and assist in designing and produce products of the operator's interest and abilities.

For example.

The operator may have an interest in remote control machines like drones or vehicles. We would explore any problems that have been seen by the operator in the operator’s experience. We would design a product to fix that problem. Market the product and do it again with more advanced cad training.

The combination of CAD and 3d printers are going to be huge in the home manufacturing as well as the hobby industries. The cad models used for printing will be a prime marketplace and the inventory of files purchasable are already stacking up. I am willing to predict, CAD will be commonplace in the home and business. Many of the products in the future will be files purchased and printed. Silicone castings can be made to duplicate parts quickly and fill large orders.  The innovation in materials is responsible for progress in every type of manufacturing industry.

If an IO decides to start a business in Additive manufacturing, there is plenty of automation available to assist in areas where a disability would be an issue.

Let’s say that the IO has a unique interest in UFO’s. During the initial training we could research and find a UFO sighting. With drawings, photographs, video, or description, we could render a 3D physical representation of the UFO as seen above. A scaled down and printed version of the UFO would come complete with lights, textures, and any feature that can be seen. After the creation and satisfaction of the recreation, the product would then be brought to market if the IO chooses. Though the UFO market may be niche, the market is populated enough to make a person working from home a very nice living.

The UFO created would be very marketable to UFO enthusiasts and collectors of oddities. It would also be of great interest to witnesses of the event. As several of these projects are completed through different sightings, the IO would eventually achieve an inventory and have an opportunity to travel to conventions or sighting locations for research and customer contact. Local businesses surrounding the area where a sighting took place could be a great source of customers with the tourist industry that follows these sightings. The restaurants may want inventory for customers. There are many different ways an IO’s interests can bring joy and also help regain the IO’s independence.

Custom Jewelry

Jewelry can be created in great detail in CAD and matched in detail with a 3d print. The 3d print could then be used to cast a replica in materials such as silver or gold in a process called lost wax casting. Metal is heated up, poured into mold and replaces the print. This process takes additional equipment. The equipment is fairly inexpensive and small. Ideal for home manufacturing.

Purposeful patriots will have a budget to cover additional equipment or help with the funding of additional equipment through existing programs.

We will not be leaving the IO’s side until we are no longer needed. We will always be standing by to assist. The products created will be of full ownership of the IO. We will feature the products created on our website with a 10% fee going back into the program, this will only apply to items sold through the purposeful patriot website.

Having additional equipment would be a big plus to the IO network, as the additional equipment could be a source of casting for the others in the network. Any exchange of money for goods between IO and the IO’s customers will be determined by the IO and not monitored by purposeful patriots. Purposeful Patriots nor instructors of Purposeful Patriots will have any ownership of IO products nor require payment from an IO.
